Create your very own advent calendar using Signo Roller Balls

What could be better to mark the arrival of Christmas next month than creating your very own Advent calendar in the form of a small village? This creative tutorial will guide you step-by-step to create some wonderful numbered houses, perfect to add a festive touch to your decoration in the run-up to 25^th December.  

Are you ready to design your very own Advent village?

For this tutorial, you will need:

- Our template (pdf to be downloaded here)

- A Shalaku S luxury pencil

- A pair of scissors

- A stick of glue

- Plain or coloured sheets of card

- Signo roller balls

What you need

Start by printing out or designing the template of a house which will form the base of your Advent calendar village.

Be sure to have a Shalaku S pencil to hand to draw clear and precise outlines. Also keep a pair of scissors to hand, essential to carefully cut out the shapes.

You will need a stick of glue to assemble the houses, as well as plain or coloured sheets of card. Finally, take out the Signo rollers, which will be the perfect tool to decorate the finished piece.

Step 1: The foundations

To begin, take a sheet of card to use as the base of your house. You can choose a plain colour or one with more daring designs to bring an original touch to your village. Make sure your card is strong enough to stand up on its own once cut.

You can then carefully draw around the template of the house using your Shalaku S pencil.

Once you’ve finished drawing the outline, carefully cut this out using your scissors. Take your time to have a clear outline, which is essential for your house to be well made.

Your very first house is now ready for decoration!

Step 2: Decorate your house

Now your house is cut out, it’s time to get decorating! Use your Signo rollers to add a festive feel with some snowflakes, stars and presents.

For an even more magical touch, feel free to play with metallic and glitter Signo rollers, bringing an added touch of glitter to your creation. With their precise lines, you can personalise each house to suit your own taste and give your village a fairytale feel!

Enter the number corresponding to the date in the calendar. Thanks to the sharpness of Signo rollers, even on dark paper, your numbers will be crystal clear.

Step 3:  Fold along the dotted lines

Once your decoration is complete, it is time to bring your house to life. Follow the dotted lines on your template to carefully fold the various sections.

These folds will allow your house to stand up and take on the desired shape.

Take your time and carefully fold your house, so as the corners are straight and your house is well built.

Step 4: Stick down the flaps

For this final step, take a stick of glue and apply some to the flaps on your cut-out design. You can then carefully assemble the various parts of the house fixing the flaps inside, so as it all holds nicely in place.

Gently press down on the parts after sticking to make sure they are properly stuck down. Once the flaps are solidly in place, your house will take on the final shape.

And there you have it, your very first Advent village house is ready to be admired! All that remains is to repeat the above steps to build some more houses.

Step 5: The end result

There you have it! You have now completed all the steps to create your very own Advent calendar village.
