Customise your windows for Christmas using the Uni-Ball Chalk Marker set

To spend the run-up to Christmas in a creative mood, we are offering you a chance to design your very own countdown on your windows! This fun and simple tutorial will guide you step-by-step in how to draw your very own countdown to the big day using our Uni-Ball Chalk Markers. Each day, simply erase and write down the number of days left until the magical day arrives. A fun activity that can be shared with the whole family to help build the excitement in the run-up to the Christmas period!

For this tutorial, you will need:

- A Uni-Ball Chalk Marker set (traditional or Scandinavian theme), including 4 chalk markers and one front-reverse poster to be used as a template

- Adhesive tape

- A damp cloth or sponge

Gather your material

Gather together your Uni-Ball Chalk Market set, which comes in either a traditional or Scandinavian theme. This set includes 4 temporary chalk markers, perfect for drawing clean lines, as well as a front-reverse poster to use as a template. 

Here we have opted for the traditional set, with white, red, green and gold markers. 

Be sure to also have some adhesive tape close to hand to fix the poster to your window and help guide you in your design, as well as a damp cloth to make any last-minute changes. 

Finally, all that remains is to choose the window on which to create your countdown design, and prepare to add a festive feel to your home!

Step 1: Select and place your poster

Begin by selecting the front-reverse poster from your Uni-Ball Chalk Marker set by using the design which inspires you the most. 

Once you’ve made your choice, place the poster on the outside of your window, where you want to create your Christmas countdown. Ensure that it is straight for the following steps. 

Attach it firmly in place using adhesive tape to the corners. This will then allow you to use the poster as a guide for your design from indoors, with total ease! Do not forget to clean your window before starting.

Step 2: Draw your design

Now place yourself in front of the poster. Take your white marker pen, remove the cap and begin tracing the design as if using a template. Carefully follow the edges to ensure the design is copied perfectly onto your window.  

The chalk marker will easily glide across the glass creating clear and visible lines. Take your time to make sure that each and every detail is crystal clear, and prepare to customise your Christmas countdown! 

Step 3: Add some colour

Once you’ve finished drawing your lines, carefully remove the poster from the outside of the window. Now the magic can begin!

Take your other coloured markers and begin by colouring in your design. Bring life to your work by shading in the various elements, for instance a large red festive bow, green for the holly, or any other colour combination which speaks to you. 

Let your creative imagination run wild to make your Christmas countdown full of joy and colour!

Step 4: Time to count down

To finish, enter the number of days until Christmas in the centre of your design, using the Uni-Ball Chalk Markers. 

You can erase and update this number each day using a damp cloth or sponge, making the run-up to the holidays even more exciting!

Now your countdown is ready to run throughout December!
