Decorate a slate for the new school year with Uni Chalk markers

Because the first day back at school is special, in this new tutorial, we’re going to show you how to decorate a slate with our must-have, temporary Uni Chalk markers. Just the thing to mark the occasion and immortalise the moment: one souvenir photo and there you have it, a new year begins! If you’re tempted, get creating!

For this tutorial, you will need:

• A slate

• Uni Chalk markers

• The pattern

1^st step: The materials

Our Uni Chalk markers, they need no introduction! They’re the real stars of this tutorial, this is an opportunity to test several tip sizes (0.9-1.3mm, 1.8-2.5mm, 8.0mm and 15mm) and different colours. Here we’ve chosen white and blue but the possibilities are endless: purple, fluorescent yellow or even metallic green! You have 16 shades to choose from.

You’ll also need a slate and a downloadable pattern.

2^nd step: The name

Write your child’s name using the white marker with a 1.8-2.5mm tip.

Our Uni Chalk markers are DIY essential when working with slate and give you a perfect, dust-free result!

You can have as many tries as you like to find the font you like the best. Just wipe with a damp cloth or sponge and you can write on your slate again.

3rd step: The text

Then, add the text with the thin tip: the 0.9-1.3mm. As the smallest available tip size among our Uni Chalk markers, it’s perfect for this detailed step.

4^th step: A touch of colour

With the wide tip (8.0mm), add a touch of colour by writing the name of the class your child is in this year. The colours show up wonderfully on this type of surface, enjoy yourself!

5^th step: The little details change everything

Finally, with the extra-wide tip (15mm) and the 1.8-2.5mm tip, draw some details to decorate the slate.

Make the date stand out, add some drawings here and there, around the class for example.

6^th step: The final result!
