Decoration idea: Christmas style, hand-decorated coasters!

In this article we’ll show you an easy and trendy decoration idea: cork coasters decorated with a Uni Paint Marker to give a lovely Christmassy touch to your table!
For this tutorial, we’ve been inspired by the simple round shape of the cork coaster and we’ve chosen to decorate it with a Christmas Wreath.
For this workshop, you will need:
- Plain cork coasters
- Permanent Uni PAINT MARKERS
3 UNI PAINT PX20 markers in Dark Green, Red and White (tip size 2.2 - 2.8mm) and 1 UNI PAINT PX21 in Light Green (tip size 0.8 - 1.2mm)
- One wine glass
Cork is a natural material which isn't always easy to work with. For this tutorial, we’ve selected our UNI PAINT MARKER because it’s an excellent all-surface marker. With an oil and indelible pigment paint base, they have opaque and solid colours which perfectly cover the brown appearance of the cork.
Our step by step guide:
1st step: With the help of the wine glass, trace a circle on the coaster which will be your point of reference for your wreath. Use the Dark Green PX20 marker for this.
2nd step: From the circle you’ve drawn, with the same dark green marker, add small lines to symbolise the branches of the Christmas tree.
Then give a little depth to your wreath by drawing a sort of shadow for your branches with the Light Green PX21 marker.
3rd step: Now you can decorate your Wreath with Christmas baubles using the colours of your choice!
Here, we’ve chosen traditional Christmas colours: red and white. For this we’ve used markers offering a medium line width (PX20) so that you don't just have a dot to represent the little Christmas baubles.
But if you prefer holly and mistletoe... you can freestyle with the colours!
4rd step: Add whatever you want to the middle of your coaster... a little red heart, a golden star, a sliver snowflake or even the name of your guests... let your imagination run wild!
One thing is certain, this little Christmas customisation will surprise your guest when they take their glass and discover your lovely handmade decoration !
By the time you’ve read this tutorial you’ll probably be on your sixth coaster, but just in case, we’ve created a little video for you which goes over all of these steps.
We hope you all have beautiful creations and good times for the holiday season!
