DIY, the “vintage pineapple” tray

Have you just bought a nice ordinary tray or do you want to give a new lease of life to another one you already have? Using a few simple patterns that we’ll share with you, get started on the tray and 'spruce it up' in no time. It's sure to be a hit at your next cocktail party with your friends and you’ll then be able say proudly: 'I did it! ”

What you need

A plastic or wooden tray
Your selection of Uni Paint, PX20 tip markers. We have chosen Dark blue, Yellow and Gold colours for this tutorial
Adhesive tape
Spray varnish

Step 1 : Make sure your tray is clean and dry before starting.

Step 2 : To avoid any overlapping, protect the raised edges of your tray with the adhesive tape.

Step 3 : Start by drawing the 4 shapes representing pineapple trunks in the 4 corners of the tray, as shown below (Yellow colour). Like truncated eggs! Wait a few minutes to let the paint dry.

Step 4 : Add 4 crowns of leaves to your pineapples (Dark blue colour) and then wait a few minutes again for the paint to dry.

Step 5 : Add the lines drawing the pineapple bark inside the yellow ovoid forms drawn in Step 1 (Gold colour).

Step 6 : On the 4 sides of the tray, draw the arches that connect the 4 pineapples by blending in behind them (Gold colour). Don’t worry if you overlap a bit on the crowns, just wait for the paint to dry and then redo the crown again, our Paint Marker colours have high coverage!

Step 7 : Decorate the interior of your tray with mini pineapples (Yellow and Dark blue colours) and a few lines (Gold colour) for a nice final touch!

Step 8 : Lastly add crowns of leaves in the middle of the arches (Dark blue colour). Wait a few minutes and then spray with varnish to fix the paint. This last step ensures that your beautiful creation won’t be damaged by any objects rubbing the surface of the tray. That would be a shame!
